Illinois Injury and Bankruptcy Practice Prides Itself on Law Firm Diversity

(LegalLaw247.com, December 31, 2011 ) Libertyville, Illinois - A truly ethnically diverse law firm in the suburbs of Chicago is not common, but at Newland & Newland LLP, we understand that diversity is important.

Because the Illinois law firm is more diverse than most others, the practice benefits from differing perspectives. Along with people from different backgrounds comes more ideas, new ways of thinking about things, and more opportunities for problems solving.

Many law firms are beginning to understand that they can have a lot of talent embedded in their organization when they have a diverse workforce. At Newland Newland LLP, we are relatively small but we have two female attorneys, an American Indian, as well as Asian, Jewish, Greek and Hispanic employees. We are always interested in more people who come from different backgrounds, experiences, and educational opportunities - the more heterogeneous the environment, the more dynamic the workforce. Our firm's commitment to diversity has helped it become a better law firm; for instance, we are better able to serve our clients because we strive for understanding and tolerance.

The cultural make up of Illinois injury and bankruptcy law firm Newland & Newland LLP is consistent with that of its client base. According to trial attorney, Gary A. Newland "clearly the United States is more diverse country than it was when I was growing and especially when my parents were growing up."

Many law firms and businesses have consciously intended to build a diverse employee base, but at Newland & Newland LLP, we just seek out the most qualified people for the job. According to Illinois trial attorney and Partner Gary A. Newland, we have a law firm based on family values and we were just taught at an early age by our Grandmother to respect others. My Grandmother Ann Levine was light years ahead of her time. Born after the turn of the 20th century she endured great challenges and discrimination being a Jewish woman growing up in the Midwest. Yet, she managed to get an education and find work. She supported herself for most of her life and did not depend on anyone nor expect anything other than the opportunity to prove herself. Ann Levine died several years ago and lived to be about 100 years old. She never forgot where she came from and always put family first.

At Newland & Newland LLP, we like to think we represent the values established by Ann Levine.
